Patricia Apollonia Kotero, an American actress and singer is a former model. She was known as the co-star in Prince's 1984 movie Purple Rain, and the singer for the girl band Apollonia 6 Apollonia was a performer/singer christened by Prince in 1984 was one of the female musicians of the 80s who benefited from Prince. Born Patricia Kotero in Santa Monica California in 1959, her professional career began as a model and actress by the end of the '70s and included an appearance on the television show CHiPS. Kotero was the female lead in Prince's Purple Rain in 1984 (at which point he had changed her name). The same year, she replaced Vanity in the form of the group Vanity 6 and was a part of the group under the title Apollonia 6 in the film. Sex Shooter was only a small hit for the group, but she had a bigger impact as Prince's duet partner on Take Me with You on the soundtrack. Kotero and Prince had a fallout over her future career. Apollonia6 broke up and Kotero was not able to remain in her relationship with Prince. In the wake of appearing in minor film (and reportedly refusing to participate in her role in the Purple Rain film Under the Cherry Moon) her name was mentioned and she was part of the 1985-1986 evening drama Falcon Crest. Apollonia could finally make her debut album available in 1988. However, the album failed to leave a lasting impression on fans of music and soon faded from the music scene. Apollonia continued to act (if somewhat unnoticed) throughout the following decade. Small TV appearances, minor films, as well as exercise videos kept her active. Apollonia released a CD in Spanish and English named Stay With Me in 1997.
